Dr. Parastoo Eshrati won the international scholarship of Urban Cultural Heritage Management in 2108

Dr. Parastoo Eshrati, assistant professor of the School of Architecture, College of Fine Arts, University of Tehran won the full scholarship to participate at the International Conference on Management Urban Cultural Heritage (MUCH) in Malaysia. The conference was held from October 1 to 4, 2018 in the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site, Malaysia to commemorate the 10th anniversary of George Town and Melaka being inscribed as a World Heritage Site. It was organized by George Town World Heritage Incorporated and was supported by the State Government of Penang, Malaysia, with collaboration of Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO and the Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur. The objectives of this conference were: 1. To discuss management approaches and innovative strategies; 2. To share creative and thought-provoking initiatives in all aspects of the management of urban heritage, including conservation, development and education; 3. To encourage dialogue among stakeholders of heritage cities from a variety of backgrounds; and 4. To build a network of site managers, professionals working in heritage cities, and decision makers. The conference gathered speakers in various areas of the heritage management as well as participants from around the world with diverse expertise in the area of cultural heritage (from large scale to small scale), as well as World Heritage Site conservationists. They presented their papers on 9 thematic sessions as following: Session 1: Urban Archaeology Session 2: Globalization and Sustainable Tourism Session 3: Disaster Risk Reduction Session 4: Challenges and Opportunities in World Heritage Site Management
