In a meeting organized by the School of Architecture on the 22nd October 2016, Professor Riichi Miyake of Fuji Women's University and Keita Aoshima of Shibaura Institute of Technology discussed ideas about future collaborations between the University of Tehran and Japanese academic institutions. In this meeting, Dr. S. Yahya Islami (International Adviser to the College of Fine Arts), Dr. Elham Andaroudi (UT Architectural Conservation), Hadi Naderi (UT CEAT) and Dr. Morteza Maleki (Tabriz University) were present.

After the meeting, Prof. Miyake presented a lecture entitled "Beyond the Disaster: The Actuality of Japanese Contemporary Architecture" followed by a lecture by Keita Aoshima entitled "Woodification Program on the Context of Global Environment".

Some of the outcomes of this meeting were agreements about the exchange of knowledge in Disaster Management Technologies and the idea of organizing an academic event in Japan about the culture and architecture of Iran.
