A Link Connecting the University with Society and Industry
The rapid pace of development in sciences and technologies across various fields in contemporary times is a well-established concept, needing no further evidence or justification. The University of Tehran's Centre of Excellence in Architectural Technology serves as a crucial link between the university, society, and industry. It was established with the goal of addressing the "need for continuous education," considered a core mission of the academic community to perpetually acquire new sciences and technologies. This initiative aims to improve both the quality and quantity of educational and operational programs in the architecture and construction industries.
The Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology’s Council of Centres of Excellence awarded the title of "Centre of Excellence in Architectural Technology" to the University of Tehran based on the expertise, rankings, and international accomplishments of its faculty members. As a result, the University of Tehran launched this centre under the leadership of Dr. Hamed Mazaherian in 2005.
The primary goal of establishing the Centre of Excellence in Architectural Technology within the School of Architecture at the Faculty of Fine Arts is to achieve educational and research objectives in the field of architecture and related sciences. This is accomplished through systematic knowledge production, which is categorized into four main areas: infrastructure development, educational objectives, research goals, and dissemination of concepts.
On August 16, 2011, following a reassessment of records, documents, and achievements from academic institutions nationwide, the Council of Centres of Excellence approved the continued operations of the Architectural Technology centre in the arts group for a second five-year term. Presently, the University of Tehran's Centre of Excellence for Architectural Technology remains the only centre in Iran dedicated to architecture.
