Summary of Research

The phenomenon of reverse migration has been examined as an interdisciplinary subject in various fields. However, in the field of architecture, it has largely been overlooked and its architectural aspects have not been adequately and realistically explored. Since the housing issue for return migrants is one of the most important challenges faced by those involved in this phenomenon, emerging models that address this housing need, referred to as "Return Homes," will be identified and analyzed. Return Homes are considered the most prominent physical manifestation of the reverse migration phenomenon in its specific form, known as return migration with a location-based attachment.
This research examines various occurrences of the reverse migration phenomenon on different scales (macro, meso, and micro) and focuses on temporary and seasonal return migration to targeted villages on a micro-scale in the central region of Iran. The goal of this study is to answer the question of how to achieve an optimal housing model in the destination areas of reverse migration and to follow this path in the selected sample as a representation of the many villages involved in this phenomenon.
