Description
The book "Vernacular Landscape of Gordan" was published by Dr. Seydamir Mansouri, Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture at the University of Tehran, in 2020, by the Nazar Institute of Art, Architecture and Urban Planning.
Although the city of Gorgan was formed in the vicinity of the Hyrcanian forests, it has a composite landscape consisting of the landscapes of the cities of the central climate of Iran and the landscape of the Caspian coast. The dense Hyrcanian forests, of which there is no trace left in the plain now, cover the mountains to the south of the city, which continue to the edge of the city. In this context, the architecture of Gorgan is very similar to the architecture of the buildings of the central climate of the Iranian plateau, which has adapted itself to the climate and local conditions in an artistic way. Central courtyard houses, unlike the rural architecture of the Caspian coast, are common in Gorgan. The narrative of the native landscape of Gorgan is the result of a research trip by researchers to this city, and this book was produced as a total of 42 scientific notes describing and understanding the native landscape of Gorgan, which are compiled in seven chapters in the present book.
Chapter 1: Ecological Landscape
Chapter 2: Neighborhood Landscape
Chapter 3: Public Space
Chapter 4: City Center
Chapter 5: Heritage Landscape
Chapter 6: Urban Scenes
Chapter 7: Economic Landscape
