Fereydoun Kasraei is a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the field of architecture and the School of Decorative Arts in Paris (A.R.D.C.O.) in interior architecture. While studying, he interned for three years with the French architect Lopez and collaborated with a cultural and artistic group made up of French, American, and Iranian engineers. He also taught at the School of Decorative Arts in Tehran for eight years. In addition to interior architecture and architecture, Kasraei has worked in areas such as painting, furniture design, landscaping, fashion design, textile design, and automotive design. Engineer Kasraei believes that:

  • Interior architecture is the art of better living in limited spaces.
  • Interior architecture is the entry of the spirit of life into architectural space.
  • Interior architecture shapes life according to the culture of consumers and its audience.
  • Interior architecture is an effort to tame living spaces, meaning that people should feel at home in an environment that meets their needs. Respect for their traditions and beliefs should be considered in their living space.
  • Another responsibility of architecture is to empower dead old and ancient spaces and revive them.

Some of Kasraei's honors include:

  • 1966: Winner of the Gold Medal for the 33rd booth of the Industrial Credit Bank, managed by the National Planning and Budget Organization, at the International Exhibition.
  • 1967: Winner of the first prize in the entrance exam for interior architecture at Dariush Hotel in Persepolis, Shiraz.
  • 1969: Winner of the Gold Medal for the Best Booth at the First International Exhibition in Tehran; designed Tehran's first children's library on behalf of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, located in the southwest corner of the former Golestan Palace.
  • 1972: Winner of the Best Mobile Exhibition Award at the International Labor Organization (ILO) conference, managed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Tehran; opened the Outaguno design center in Tehran aimed at designing furniture and home appliances.
  • 1973-1974: Interior architecture of the Varian Hotel.
  • 1975-1976: Interior architecture of the Enqelab Sports Club.
  • 1974: Interior architecture of Dr. Iqbal Hospital (Imam Khomeini Hospital Complex).
  • 1992: Interior architecture of the Mitsubishi's headquarters in Tehran.
  • 2003: National Museum of the Red Crescent Society of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
