Fourth Session of "Dowr" Meetings on "Geometric Proportions in Iranian Art" - دانشکده معماری
The fourth session of the Interior Architecture Students Union was held with the presence of Dr. Bavand Behpour, focusing on proportions and geometry in Iranian art. In the first phase, explanations were provided about the scale and geometry of Mirza Jafar Khan, and the representation of these proportions was examined in various subjects, such as the human figure (both in reality and in painting), domes, squares, and so on.
Following this, different contexts and the methods of deriving geometric dimensions in architecture through these contexts were discussed. To enhance understanding and provide personal experience for the students, templates were provided for them, along with exercises to identify how to work with them. As an example of how to utilize these templates in architecture, the design of facades was introduced and explained. This method allows students to easily describe how to draw plans, elevations, and more verbally to one another using these templates.
At the end, a competition was held in the form of a design exercise where students used the templates to design a teapot. This workshop not only acquainted students with Iranian geometry but also provided insight into how to arrive at this information, familiarization with Mirza Jafar Khan, his achievements, and perspectives. Overall, it significantly contributed to enhancing the architect's understanding of proportions and Iranian art.
