As part of the Architect’s Week program, the Interior Architecture Scientific Association of the University of Tehran organized a practical and educational workshop on chair design on Tuesday, April 22nd. This full-day workshop provided a unique opportunity for students of this field to not only learn about the history of chair design but also practice and build models of their own designs.
In the morning session, the history of Bauhaus design and its significance in the evolution of chair design were introduced. Then, in the theoretical section of the workshop, topics such as the principles of ergonomics, chair design standards, and construction techniques were discussed. These concepts laid the foundation for the students' practical designs in the following part of the workshop.
In the afternoon session, students used various materials provided by the Interior Architecture Scientific Association to build scaled models of their designs. These models were made at a 1:10 scale, allowing students to practically present their ideas. At this stage, students used the sketches they had created in the morning to construct their three-dimensional models.
In addition to theoretical instruction, this workshop offered a hands-on experience, allowing students to practice design and construction skills in a high-quality educational environment. The organizers hope that events like this will contribute to the growth and development of students' abilities in various fields of architecture and interior design.
