Expert Sessions on Architecture

The School of Architecture, in recognition of the rapid transformations shaping the contemporary world and the increasingly significant role of architecture in addressing complex social, cultural, environmental, and technological challenges, seeks to establish a dynamic platform for dialogue, intellectual exchange, and critical reflection on the theoretical and practical foundations of architecture through a series of specialized seminars. Focusing on current issues and contemporary challenges, these events aim to foster innovative intellectual discourse and enhance professional awareness and sensitivity among members of the academic community and architectural practitioners.
Today, more than ever, architecture stands at the intersection of diverse fields of knowledge—from emerging technologies and artificial intelligence to sustainability, climate change, social transformations, cultural identity, and the future of cities. In this context, the need for spaces that encourage critical and pluralistic dialogue has become increasingly evident, enabling a deeper understanding of these developments and a thoughtful examination of their implications. The School of Architecture Seminar Series has been established in response to this need and seeks to provide a framework for informed and analytical engagement with these pressing questions.
The seminars will explore a broad range of contemporary architectural topics, including theoretical and philosophical perspectives on contemporary architecture, critical reviews of emerging movements and discourses, and the impact of digital technologies, computational tools, and artificial intelligence on design processes. Additional themes will encompass sustainable architecture and environmental responsibility, the relationship between architecture, urban life, and everyday experience, transformations in architectural education, and the evolving role of architects within today’s complex economic and social structures.
The series will bring together university School members, researchers, professional architects, and experts from related disciplines. By fostering dialogue between theory and practice, academia and the profession, and different generations of architects, the program seeks to create opportunities for mutual learning and the development of new perspectives. Encouraging interaction between professional experience and scholarly inquiry represents one of the central objectives of these events.
Furthermore, the seminars provide architecture students with a valuable opportunity to engage with the diverse concerns, questions, and trajectories of architectural thought and practice beyond the formal framework of academic instruction. Active participation in these dialogue-oriented environments can contribute to the development of critical thinking, strengthen analytical abilities, and cultivate independent perspectives on contemporary architectural issues.
The School of Architecture hopes that this seminar series will contribute to the creation of a vibrant and inspiring academic environment—one in which architecture is discussed not merely as a profession or academic discipline, but as an interdisciplinary field of knowledge and a cultural and social practice. Through these programs, the School seeks both to engage with global architectural discourse and to critically reflect upon local and regional concerns, with the ultimate goal of envisioning clearer and more promising horizons for the future of architecture.
