As part of the events for Architect’s Week 1404 (2025), on Sunday, April 20th, at 4:00 PM, the second session of the series “Women in Architecture: Experience, Influence, Future...” was held at Shahid Avini Hall. The event was hosted by Dr. Katayoun Taghizadeh, faculty member of the School of Architecture at the College of Fine Arts and Head of the Architectural Technology Department. The session featured talks by Baharak Keshani, architect, researcher, and board member of the MirMiran Architecture Foundation; Raha Ashrafi, architect, designer, and co-founder of Ashrafi-Zad Design Studio; and Elaheh Radmehr, board member of the Iranian Construction Engineering Organization.
Centered on revisiting the role and presence of women in Iran’s architectural landscape, the speakers shared personal and professional experiences, addressing the challenges and opportunities they have encountered throughout their careers. The main focus of the discussions was on examining the impact of women architects in shaping contemporary urban spaces and modern Iranian architecture, rethinking professional norms, and envisioning future prospects for women in the field. The session also touched upon issues such as gender gaps within the architectural profession, the importance of female narratives in spatial production, and the need to establish supportive networks for women architects.
